After the outrage in Likud: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced this evening (Sunday) that his spokesman and acting chief of staff, Ziv Agmon, will end his position in the coming days.

An official statement from Netanyahu stated: "Ziv Agmon will end his position in the coming days with the entry of his replacement, Ido Norden, who is now in the process of being absorbed into the Prime Minister's Office.".

The announcement was made an hour and a half after Netanyahu attempted, in a statement released by his office, to back Agmon, announcing that he had "accepted his apology," and asked to forgive him.

However, the attempt not to immediately fire Agmon and leave him in office was met with an attack from Likud ministers and MKs, who refused to forgive the racist statements exposed by political commentator Amit Segal on Channel 12.

Following this, as mentioned, Netanyahu quickly issued an announcement regarding the termination of his position.

Agmon himself wrote on his Facebook account: "I thank the Prime Minister for his words. Over the past week, I have expressed on several occasions my regret for the publications as well as my decision to end my position, and these words are also true at this time.".

""I would like to apologize again to those who were hurt. To eliminate any doubt, I am confident that the Prime Minister will find a suitable replacement and I will end my duties in the coming days.".
