The clear and comfortable weather that has prevailed in recent days is expected to change by the end of the week: Today (Friday) will be partly cloudy to cloudy with moderate to high cloudiness. Temperatures will be without significant change.

However, drizzle to light local rain is expected towards the evening. During the night, the rain and winds will gradually strengthen. Isolated thunderstorms are possible.

According to the Meteorological Service's forecast, during the night, the weather will be mostly dry in the south of the country, and on Saturday we will already be affected by a low pressure system that will arrive from the south ("Sharbey Depression") and it will bring with it winds that will blow strongly in many areas of the country.

In the south of the country and in the central mountains, winds will be particularly strong with gusts of 80-90 km/h and even higher, and limited visibility, haze, and significant sandstorms are expected in the Negev.

Local rainfall is also expected in most areas of the country on Saturday, but most of it will be of low intensity. In the Negev and the Dead Sea region, there may be local accumulations of water as a result of continuous rainfall, even if not heavy.

On Saturday night, the weather system will take on more wintery characteristics, and the rains will be concentrated in the north and center.

On Sunday: A significant cooling is expected with rain in the north and locally in the center. In the northern Negev, light local rain is possible. Temperatures will drop considerably and humidity will increase.

Monday: Partly cloudy. Drizzle to light local rain is still possible until noon in the north and center of the country. Temperatures will be slightly lower than normal for the season.

The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Environmental Protection announce that according to the models, high to very high air pollution is predicted tomorrow in all parts of the country, due to respiratory particles originating from dust transport; an improvement in air quality is predicted during the evening hours/towards night.

The high air pollution is related to the passage of a large depression, which causes strong southwesterly winds that transport dust from Sinai to our areas and sandstorms in the Negev.

In light of this, the Ministry of Health and the Environmental Protection Agency recommend that sensitive populations, including heart patients, lung patients, the elderly, children and pregnant women, avoid strenuous physical activity outdoors. The general population is advised to reduce strenuous physical activity outdoors.
