Attorney Itamar Ben-Gvir this morning (Thursday) sharply criticized journalist Dan Margalit, a commentator for Israel Hayom, following Margalit's comments To the ruling of Judge Moshe Drori, which determined that a Jewish teenager who threw a Molotov cocktail at Arabs after the kidnapping of the three teenagers on the 14th will not be convicted.
Margalit tweeted on his Twitter account: "Judge Drori, whose rulings are problematic, acquitted a Jew who threw a Molotov cocktail. A Palestinian has no such chance. Hope the prosecution will appeal.".
In response, Ben Gvir wrote to Margalit: "If you had bothered to read the verdict, you would have discovered that he did not acquit but rather did not convict (there is a difference) and in the arguments for the sentence I relied on the rulings of Judge Drori regarding Arab teenagers...""
In a conversation with Channel 7, Attorney Ben Gvir said: "There are journalists who have it in their DNA to attack court rulings without even reading a single word. In the arguments for the sentence, I relied on various decisions by Judge Drori, who ruled that Arab minors who threw stones should not be convicted after they went through a rehabilitation process and expressed remorse, but Dan Margalit did not read even a line from the broad sentence, and therefore responded superficially.".
As for the prosecution's chances of appealing - Attorney Ben Gvir asks to inform Dan Margalit that the appeal period has expired: "That's why this story came out in the media now, even though about two months have passed since the verdict, but Margalit is not familiar with these details either, and I don't blame him, he is simply not familiar with the material.".
