Opposition leader, MK Bozhi Herzog, spoke today (Monday) at the Jerusalem conference of Channel 7 and the newspaper "Besheva", and began by addressing the ideological gaps between him and the public he is hosting.
""It is permissible to argue and everything should be done in an appropriate atmosphere," he said.
""Yesterday, the Labor Party made a very significant decision, unanimously of course," said Herzog. "As long as Netanyahu and Abbas are in power, a two-state solution cannot be reached.".
He said, "I came here to tell you that you too need to change direction. There is no answer for the right-wing leadership. There is no answer for Bennett. Annexing Area C will encourage more terror and more fences. My proposal is to finish building the fence. What is happening today in Gush Etzion is a failure. We do not mean in the prayer 'And to Jerusalem your city return with mercy' the 13 Arab villages around Jerusalem.
""The IDF should be left in the field and not repeat the mistake made in the disengagement, and on the other hand, give the Palestinians more self-government," Herzog suggested. "In Balfour sits a paralyzed leader who does not know how to provide a solution to the problems and reality that confronts us today.".
Herzog argued that the focus should be on the status of the settlement blocs: "The victory of Zionism will be for the world to recognize the blocs, headed by Gush Etzion, to which I am personally attached. Whoever does not want an order to be imposed on us must adopt my outline - the outline of separation - we are here and they are there and a red line divides us.".
""If we don't wake up now, we will find ourselves facing a binational state called Israel. When I hear Uri Ariel talking about annexing Area C, I don't understand what he's saying.".
""It's clear that this will cause political damage. I come from religious Zionism myself, I want us to reach an arrangement that will leave us with the blocs. It's not possible otherwise, in the international reality we find ourselves in," Herzog stated.
Herzog added: "I am not indifferent to reality, to terror, to pain and to the loss of trust. The fact is that my party adopted my proposals almost unanimously, and even the polls indicate that seventy percent of the Israeli public adopts them.".
Herzog later addressed the Arab MKs' meeting with the families of the terrorists: "The Israeli public is fed up with Arab MKs and what they represent and say. But it is in the hands of the Attorney General and it is under his care. Since it is clear to all of us that this reality needs to end, we are waiting for the Attorney General to take his position.".
