US President Donald Trump will not, it appears, attend the opening of the embassy in Jerusalem in May, due to scheduling constraints.
According to a report on News 2, efforts are being made to find an alternative date for the groundbreaking of the new building, but the White House said that no decision has yet been made on the matter.
Despite the promises he made in the past, Trump will not be able to attend the embassy opening event in Jerusalem, which will open on the scheduled date - May 14, but efforts are now being made to find a new date for the laying of the cornerstone, when the president will be able to attend.
The US President's schedule does not allow him to come to Israel in May, partly because of the issues of withdrawing from the nuclear agreement.
Earlier today, following the revelation on Channel 2 that bureaucratic difficulties threaten the opening of the American embassy in Jerusalem, the National Planning and Building Council decided to recommend granting an exemption from the plan and permit to build a wall and an escape route for the embassy.
