In an interview with Reshet B, Lapid said: "Attacking the palace in Damascus is undermining the regime. In my opinion, it is not right and it does not serve any strategic purpose.".
However, he emphasized that Israel should indeed intervene to protect the Druze in As-Suwayda: "I think we should help the Druze and protect them. My brother's brother is my brother.".
The Yesh Atid chairman said that in his opinion, "it is not right to undermine the regime in Syria in light of the work that the United States and Europe are interested in doing to stabilize the country. I am not against intervention, but in my opinion it is not right and it does not serve any strategic purpose.".
Lapid emphasized: "At the immediate level, the Druze need to be protected. A massacre took place there. But an attack in Damascus is reckless behavior. The Middle East is looking at this and understands that we think the laws don't apply to us.".
