Khatem al-Anbiya, commander of the Iranian armed forces, announced last night (Monday) that "the citizens of Iran, under the command of the Supreme Leader, have proven to the US that 'there is no other way but to accept defeat.'".
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said after the agreement was announced: "On Friday, there will be an official signing and talks will be held between the heads of the two delegations to determine the arrangements for future negotiations. Until then, the American side's commitments regarding ending the war, lifting the blockade, and releasing the assets will be verified.".
""Entering into 60-day negotiations is conditional on the Americans fulfilling these commitments.".
He added, noting in his remarks: "The memorandum of understanding is not only the result of diplomacy, but also the result of Iran's military achievements; the result of the pure blood of the martyrs who gave in the struggle against the regime's enemies; the result of the people's steadfastness and their daily presence in the field and on the streets in support of the regime and the armed forces and in dealing with the enemies; the result of the pure blood of the martyred Imam and the result of the plans of the Supreme Leader and the efforts of those responsible.".
He said, "The enemy, which attacked to realize its malicious goals, failed in all its goals and the Islamic Republic of Iran achieved great victories in the war. In the draft agreement, we included all our important positions. After the official signing, the text of the agreement will be published.".
""Before the signing, we will explain the various aspects of the memorandum of understanding through public media and tell about the achievements.".
He noted that "this memorandum of understanding does not reflect trust in the enemy and was written with distrust; we will monitor the performance of US commitments.".
According to Gharibabadi, some amendments to the agreement were facilitated by the events that occurred in Lebanon. "Trump also took positions and criticized the Zionist regime, and Hezbollah gave strong and decisive responses to the Zionist regime's terrorist action. The military power and the threats that were directed helped in the process of finalizing the text and advancing certain issues that we had for finalizing the text.".
Gharibabadi added: "Until we included our final points and demands in the text of the understanding, we did not agree on the understanding agreement. The negotiations continued until an hour before.".
He referred to the possibility that this was an American ploy: "Iran's armed forces will always have their finger on the trigger to deal with the conspiracies of the enemies. We will always be ready to deal with any conspiracy.".
