In the State Audit Committee hearing held today (Tuesday) in the Knesset, the head of the IDF's Planning and Personnel Management Division, Brigadier General Shai Taib, updated on the recruitment data among the Haredi public - following the sending of recruitment orders in the past year.

Was your property damaged because of the war? Are you entitled to compensation? • All the details

According to him, out of 24,000 orders sent out, only 1,200 Haredim reported to the recruitment offices, and of those, only 422 actually enlisted.

Of those who actually enlisted, 98 were assigned to combat tracks.

Taib added: "And some of them will move onto combat routes, because they come through other routes.".

During the discussion, Major Inbar Goldner, the Military Police's Detainee Division Commander, revealed that the IDF is significantly increasing enforcement efforts against deserters and 'evaders'.

According to her, there has been a significant increase in the scope of activity, especially at the ports of exit from the country and at border crossings, in coordination with the Israel Police. "The scope of forces at Ben Gurion Airport and at the various crossings has tripled," Goldner noted.

She added: "It was agreed with the police that anyone who arrives as a deserter at the terminals will be arrested on the spot. In addition to traditional enforcement, we are building a new enforcement layer that will also operate proactively at checkpoints and crossings.".

She noted that as part of the preparations for the increased measures, the Military Police is working to expand the IDF's detention capabilities. "We have established a new dedicated company for this purpose, so that we can respond to the growing number of detainees," she said.

Goldner emphasized that the mere fact that the arrests are made on airport grounds creates a significant deterrent effect. "We see evaders who end up in jail after being arrested at Ben Gurion Airport - it affects them, and it also deters others.".
