A severe economic blow to Benzi Gopstein's organization: The District Court ruled today (Monday) that it will be required to pay one million shekels in compensation for sending three spam messages with a request for donations to hundreds of thousands of people via SMS - without the organization receiving permission from the recipients of the messages.

According to Avishai Greenzig's report on the i24news channel, Judge Tamar Bezeq Rapaport issued the sentence as part of a class action lawsuit that has been ongoing since September 2020.

The judge wrote that although this is a very low compensation in relation to the violation, she took into account that this is a non-profit organization whose annual turnover is only 1.2 million shekels.

The organization chose not to bring any witnesses or evidence in its defense.

The plaintiffs were represented by attorneys Ohad Rosen and Karin Wind. Lehava was represented by attorneys Eli Cohen and Roya Naor.
