All representatives of the coalition parties supported the proposal, along with representatives of Yisrael Beiteinu, Yesh Atid, and the State Camp.
The impeachment process will reach the plenum within three weeks, where a majority of 90 Knesset members will be required to complete it.
MK Avichai Boaron's request to bring Odeh to light included a statement by the MK on the X network from January, in which he allegedly compared the kidnapped to terrorists, when he wrote: "I am happy about the release of the kidnapped and the prisoners. From here we must free both peoples from the yoke of occupation. We are all free people.".
Boaron said with the decision today: "Throughout all the discussions, he did not apologize or retract his words, and even repeated them again. He refuses to recognize that Hamas and Hezbollah are terrorist organizations. It is impossible to separate his words from the overall context, and therefore I am certain that the decision will be passed by a large majority in the Knesset plenum.".
Committee chairman Ofir Katz added: "In a reformed state, Ayman Odeh should rot in prison and be stateless. I very much hope that there is a future and that the state camp will not back down and play a double game when this reaches the plenum. Ayman Odeh must get out of here.".
MK Ayman Odeh responded: “The opposition has collaborated again with Netanyahu and Kahanism – they hate us more than they love democracy.”.
The Knesset's legal counsel, Attorney Sagit Afik, argued in the hearing that there was not enough evidence to justify Odeh's dismissal.
Earlier, the Deputy Speaker of the Knesset, MK Nissim Vaturi of the Likud, almost physically clashed with MK Ofer Kassif of Hadash.
