In his place, Knesset member Eliyahu Baruchi of the Torah Banner is expected to return to serve.
Baruchi, who served under Norwegian law, lost his seat in the Knesset after Minister Yitzhak Goldknopf resigned from the government two and a half weeks ago.
Political commentator Shari Roth notes that Tesler's resignation from the Knesset seemingly removes the ground from under the feet of Yisrael Eichler, who is expected to be appointed Minister of Construction and Housing in Goldknopf's place. This is because Degel is already losing interest in an appointment that would allow Baruchi to return to the Knesset, as it has already received the sacred 50-50 balance again - and everything is fine from its perspective.
However, from Netanyahu's perspective, this could end in disaster, as Ichler is furious - this is the Rebbe of Belza who is furious.
