A war with Iran that claimed Jewish lives? The editors of the newspaper 'Hamodia', a Gur Hasidic publication, decided in an unthinkable move to dedicate the newspaper's main headline to the resignation of the Minister of Construction and Housing Yitzhak Goldknopf.
Goldknopf's resignation took effect today (Sunday) at 10:00 a.m.
""The resignation is final. I believe with all my heart that the right of the Torah and standing up for the right of the media will stand for the salvation of all Israel," MK Goldknopf was quoted as saying.
Below the main heading appears in the frame "Reminder: Resignation Letter.".
The main news item and Goldknopf's letter occupy the entire right half of the front page, while all the events of the war are relegated to the inside pages.
Following Goldknopf's resignation, MK Eliyahu Baruchi of the Torah Banner, who entered the Knesset under Norwegian law, was forced to leave his position, as Goldknopf returned to his position as a member of Knesset.
