Six people were killed last night (Sunday) by a missile strike in a residential area in Bat Yam. 18 people are still missing and a search is underway at the scene for them.
Among the dead were an 8-year-old girl, a 10-year-old boy, a woman about 60 years old, and another woman about 80 years old. Several dozen residents of the affected area were evacuated for treatment in hospitals.
Meir Yehuda, a resident of the area, told 'Kan News': "There had never been such a boom in my life. The walls of the shelter were shaking. As soon as I saw this thing, we waited two minutes to see if everything was okay, everyone was okay. I went outside, started the motorcycle, and said I'm going to see what was going on.".
Yehuda added: "First of all, I see the whole neighborhood smoke and that. Driving, on the road, the whole road is glass, window shutters, all kinds of things. Driving towards the place, by the time I arrive, I suddenly see half a building fallen, literally, half a building shaved off, I see fire and all the buildings around.".
He said about the assistance he provided to the victims: "We know that a lot of elderly people live in this area. From what we saw, we hear people from the fifth floor, the tenth floor shouting: 'Save, save,' we saw a fire in the middle. We lifted people on our shoulders.".
