In a joint operation by the Jerusalem District Police and the Shin Bet, the suspect in the arson and damage to the Or Habib synagogue of the Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef in the expanded Sanhedria neighborhood of Jerusalem was located and arrested this evening (Monday) - early Sunday morning.

On Thursday, we salute national-civilian service personnel from Haredi society: Want to participate?

The arrested suspect, in his 20s, was taken in for questioning.

A gag order has been imposed on the investigation of the affair, and therefore, beyond these details, it is not possible to expand at this stage.

As reported in Haredim 10, an unknown person broke into the Or Habib synagogue early in the morning - and set fire to the synagogue.

The rabbi's office was damaged and his chair caught fire. Holy books that were there were burned.

In the security camera footage at 4:00 a.m., the suspect is seen walking inside the synagogue, located at 22 Yam Suf Street, and then setting the chair on fire.

Crosses, slurs, and the words "Robin!" were sprayed on nearby houses.
