French police reported today (Saturday) that the Holocaust Memorial in Paris, two synagogues and a Jewish restaurant were vandalized with green paint overnight - in what appears to be a coordinated incident.

French Interior Minister Bruno Rituello strongly condemned the incident, writing on X-Net: "I am deeply disgusted by these criminal acts directed against the Jewish community.".

Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo announced that the city would file a complaint - and noted: "Anti-Semitism has no place in our city or in our republic.".

Rituello ordered increased security at Jewish sites ahead of Shavuot on Friday, amid a growing wave of anti-Semitism since the outbreak of the Gaza war. He said more than 60% of anti-religious acts in France are directed against Jews.

Last May, anti-Semitic graffiti was sprayed in red on a monument commemorating the rescuers of Jews from the Nazi occupation, also in central Paris.

President of the State Isaac Herzog condemned the anti-Semitic events in the French capital this evening. "I call on the French authorities to act swiftly and decisively to bring the attackers to justice, and to protect the Jewish community from any manifestation of hatred or violence.

"I was shocked by the attack on Jewish institutions in Paris during Shabbat - including the historic synagogue in the Marais district, founded by my great-grandfather, Rabbi Yoel Herzog.".

""I spoke this evening with the leadership of the CRIF and the heads of the Jewish community in France, and I expressed my full support and stood by them at this difficult time.".

Chairman of the Israel-France Friendship Group, MK Yossi Taib: "Shocking by the anti-Semitic action against Jewish institutions in Paris. Anti-Semitism is raising its head, and the French authorities must respond firmly and send a clear message – there is no place for hatred of Jews, not in France, not in Europe, and not anywhere. The sight of Jews who are afraid to walk on the street is unbearable. It must be ensured that every Jew has the right to live in safety, anywhere in the world.".
