Avraham Hayad, 20 years old at the time of his death, from Haifa, fought in the Erez Battalion, Military Police Corps.

The three terrorists arrived in a vehicle from the Hebron area, jumped out of the vehicle and opened fire on the people at the checkpoint.

The security forces on the ground responded and killed the terrorists. In their possession and in the vehicle in which they arrived were found two M-16 rifles, two pistols, hundreds of bullets, ten full magazines, two axes, dates, and clothing resembling IDF uniforms. They also placed fake Israeli license plates on the vehicle in which they arrived.

""The IDF will continue to act to thwart terrorism in Judea and Samaria and to bring to justice any terrorist who harms Israeli citizens and security forces," the IDF spokesman said in a statement.
