Against the backdrop of Yesh Atid's decline in the polls, with Direct Polls polls showing it not far from the threshold, the opposition leader spoke with the party's chiefs of staff and branches, and referred, among other things, to Yair Golan's surge in the polls.

Lapid dismissed the concerns, attacked Golan, and predicted that when his positions became clear to the public, he would be perceived as an extremist figure - and lose seats.

According to the report, Lapid reassured the chiefs of staff: "Yair Golan is now receiving mandates because he is a general. But as soon as the primaries are over, everyone will discover what a radical left his party is.".

He added: "We are in the demonstrations because we believe that the government is endangering the State of Israel, but we don't think that what will save the State of Israel is for us to jump on the "Olive Tree" bandwagon, like Naama Lazimi.".

The chairman of the Democrats, Yair Golan, said in response: "The time for old politics is over. The future of Israel is at stake. I call on all my partners to rise to the occasion. Let's work together to overthrow Netanyahu's rule and save Israel.".

Yesh Atid stated: "Yesh Atid is a national center party, and the party of the Israeli middle class. You can always pull out a few quotes from a long and hopeful meeting with hundreds of people, which generally dealt with substantive issues such as ultra-Orthodox recruitment, national security, and the need to lower the cost of living.".

""We maintain good and close working relationships with Yair Golan, Benny Gantz, Avigdor Lieberman and Naftali Bennett, but the fact that cannot be undermined is that only Yesh Atid has the territory, the experience and the people with whom it is possible to establish a national liberal government that will move Israel forward.""
