Ben Gvir sharply attacked the Haredi journalist and denied that he received hush money. "More fake news from the production house of the gossiper posing as a journalist, Michael Shemesh," Ben Gvir wrote in a post he published on his X account.
According to him, "Shemesh is perhaps the best example of the deterioration of the world of journalism: an attempt to produce maximum pathos with tambourines, when the news value of his words is at best equal to a gossip column of fantasy stories.".
Ben Gvir wrote in the post:
""Here are the facts: Naftali Bennett never paid me a 'silence fee' - he paid compensation for false slander that his wife Gilat spread against me and against Otzma Yehudit activists (what he usually calls: 'the poison machine').
""His wife, as he admits, spread the news that my men broke into their house - but there was no basis for the words, just as there was no basis for the words written by the gossiper Shemesh. Following this, I filed a lawsuit against her, and as part of the mediation process in the lawsuit, it was agreed that Bennett would pay me financial compensation. I donated the full amount of the financial compensation to the heroic IDF soldiers.".
Ben Gvir added: "We taught the poison machine a lesson. Both the lawsuit and the settlement agreement were published in the press in real time, except for the exact amount.".
Ben Gvir did not stop there, and added harsh political criticism of Bennett: "I believe that Bennett was an especially failed prime minister, who deceived right-wing voters, stole their votes and, with their help, established a government with Abbas-Hamas, in which he boasted that he allowed workers from Gaza to enter Israeli territory, based on the concept of 'economic peace in exchange for security peace,' which exploded upon us in the October 7 massacre. In his government, Amar Bar-Lev was appointed Minister of Public Security, whose main occupation was to discredit the settlers in the world.".
Ben Gvir concluded: "In short - a fake by the gossiper Shemesh, and panicked words by Bennett who stole the votes of the right - but he was indeed forced to pay for the poisonous words spread by his wife.".
