Veteran journalist Yaakov Ahimeir, winner of the Israel Prize, expressed in an interview he gave to Benny Teitelbaum on Kan Moreshet radio a sense of disappointment with the media discourse in Israel - especially towards the Prime Minister.

""I think the media largely reflects hatred for Prime Minister Netanyahu," said Ahimeir. "I think the role of the media - no problem - in a free country like Israel, is to criticize the government... but these things are written in a style that, in my humble opinion, is not appropriate for journalism or media outlets that broadcast in Hebrew.".

He emphasized that he has no objection to criticism of the government: "The role of the media is to criticize and criticize the government and expose all the injustices and sins and failures, as the media does today - and how do they say, in quotation marks: good luck.

""The question is what style you use... Do you only use abusive language, or do you criticize in a civilized, correct, genuine way, as I think is appropriate.".
