The Prime Minister's Office reacted sharply this evening (Monday) to the affidavit of the ousted Shin Bet chief, Ronen Bar, which was submitted to the High Court of Justice.
According to the bureau, the affidavit is "full of lies and reveals his failures.".
According to a statement from Netanyahu's office:
1. Ronen Bar declares that on the night of the October 7th massacre, he woke up the entire system. He just forgets to mention that he did not wake up the heads of the system, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense. If he had done so, the massacre would have been avoided.
Ronen Bar states that he instructed the Prime Minister's military secretary to be woken up at 05:15. In fact, his PR only called the military secretary at 06:13 - just a few minutes before the Hamas attack began, and this was when Ronen Bar had had information about the suspected attack for over 3 hours.
In doing so, Bar confirms the determination of all government ministers that he failed miserably on October 7. This reason alone requires the termination of his position.
Ronen Bar also hides what he said just two days before the massacre, on October 5: "Looking ahead, the renewal of understandings between Israel and Hamas based on the principle of silence in exchange for concessions reveals potential for preserving stability in the Gaza Strip.".
Ronen Bar is the father of failure and he must go home.
.2. Unwittingly, Ronen Bar confirms in his affidavit the government and prime minister's claim that the intention to dismiss him was announced as early as November 2024. This contradicts the claim of the legal advisor to the government that Bar was dismissed in February due to the opening of the investigation into the Qatar matter.
The dismissal was not intended to prevent the investigation, but rather the investigation was intended to prevent the dismissal.
.3. Contrary to Bar's false statement, the Prime Minister never asked to postpone his trial. On the contrary - the Prime Minister insisted on holding his trial without any postponement.
.4. The head of the Shin Bet failed miserably in handling incitement against the political echelon, including calls for the assassination of the Prime Minister and incitement against ministers. Bar failed to prevent the firing of flares by violent protesters at the Prime Minister's house in Caesarea, who nearly burned a security guard to death and set the house on fire.
The Prime Minister and his ministers have repeatedly claimed in government and cabinet discussions that no enforcement action is being taken against the wild and violent incitement against them and their families. Neither they nor the Prime Minister ever requested illegal action against the protesters, but rather demanded equal enforcement, which has not yet been implemented. Following these requests, the head of the Shin Bet reported to the Prime Minister on the Shin Bet's actions in this regard.
