MK Gilad Kariv of the Democrats appealed through the National Security Committee to Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, requesting that he provide him with the list of localities eligible for a weapons license, labeled "eligible locality," by virtue of their location.

In response to his request, Minister Ben Gvir responded and wrote to the Chairman of the National Security Committee: "Revealing the list of eligible localities could harm the security of residents, as criminal and terrorist elements will be able to identify localities and areas where, in the opinion of the police, there is no adequate response from security elements, and therefore there is a need for citizens to be equipped with firearms for self-defense. Accordingly, the police approved responding to a request for information regarding districts only.".

Ben Gvir wrote to Gilad Kariv: "It is worth noting that today it was announced that the applicant, MK Gilad Kariv, was questioned with a warning on suspicion of leaking classified protocols from the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee. This matter in itself, without detracting from what is stated in Section 4, constitutes, in my opinion, grounds for preventing the list from being transferred to him.".

""Under these circumstances, the transfer of the requested information will be accompanied by conditions, including that the committee meeting will be held in the subcommittee for classified issues, similar to the previous discussion, and that the information will be delivered orally by a representative of the department who will come with the list of eligible localities and answer the questions of the discussion participants.".

Karib arrived for questioning at Lahav 433 police station this morning (Monday) on suspicion of leaking secret protocols from the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee. Police sources said that Karib did not cooperate with investigators and hardly answered questions.
