The arrest was made after a joint undercover investigation was conducted in recent weeks by the MPC and the Negev Military Police, on suspicion of theft and trafficking in weapons by reserve soldiers at a base in the south of the country.
The two reserve soldiers are suspected of trafficking dozens of grenades and selling them to criminals for thousands of shekels.
Two weeks ago, the reserve soldiers were detained by the Marine Corps detectives and the military police for questioning.
At the conclusion of the investigation, and in accordance with its findings, last night (Monday) detectives from the Maritime Police Department raided the homes of two suspects in the south of the country, from whom they are suspected of having purchased the grenades.
""The Israel Police and the Military Police will continue to work to uphold and enforce the law, and in particular to eradicate the phenomenon of weapons leaking to criminal elements, with the aim of ensuring public safety and security," the police statement said.
