''Between times': Firefighters from the Binyamin Regional Station, rescuers from the "Lahava" unit, and the Megillot Rescue Team rescued seven Haredi hikers who got into trouble in the Darga Stream in the Judean Desert this evening (Sunday).
After an assessment of the situation carried out on the ground between the teams, it was decided that the police helicopter would land a team of rescuers from the Megilot Rescue Unit in the stream, for the purpose of entering on foot - and would join the group that was cut off from each other, and transfer them to a meeting point along the stream.
After gathering all the group members at the connection point, the helicopter, along with Megilot rescuers and a fire department fire unit, performed two flying circles and safely transported them to the HAFK.
After the group members' medical condition was examined by the Megilot Medical Center medical team, they evacuated independently.
Lieutenant Colonel Doron Elmashli, commander of the 'Lahava' unit: "After the firefighters from the Binyamin Regional Station arrived at the assembly area and joined the Megilot rescue unit, a situation assessment was conducted, after which it was decided to activate the unit, using the Israel Police's aerial formation helicopter.
""Rescuers from the 'Lahava' unit, who are qualified to perform rescues by helicopter, arrived on the scene and worked together with all the rescuers to reach the group of hikers. When they joined the group, they divided the group into two parts, in order to perform the rescue in two stages. The hikers were rescued to the rendezvous point and transferred for medical treatment."'
