Ashkelon Mayor Tomer Glam issued a public apology today (Thursday) to former Transportation Minister Merav Michaeli for his statements against her.
In addition, as part of a settlement agreement, he will pay her compensation of 10,000 NIS.
The statement in question was made at the Center for Local Government conference in June 2024, when Glam claimed that Michaeli instructed not to transfer funds to the city of Ashkelon because he was a Likudnik.
Following his words, Michaeli filed a lawsuit against him.
In an apology he published today, Glam wrote: "In June 2024, I stated at the Local Government Center conference that during the period when Knesset Member Merav Michaeli served as Minister of Transportation, she gave instructions not to transfer funds to the city of Ashkelon because I was a Likudnik.
""I want to retract what I said that was not true, and express my apologies to MK Michaeli, with whom, during her tenure as minister, we maintained professional and fruitful working relationships while promoting transportation projects for the benefit of the residents of the city of Ashkelon.".
