Moshe Chaim "Musa" Horn, 85, was murdered this morning (Monday) in a combined attack on Highway 66, near the Tishbi intersection near Yokneam.
""Musa" Y.D., a resident of Kibbutz HaZorea, was shot to death in his vehicle - in front of his son.
The terrorist, Karem Jabarin, an Arab-Israeli from the village of Zalafah in Wadi Ara, 25 years old, ran over a soldier who was at a bus stop there with his vehicle, then got out of the vehicle, stabbed him - and then stole his weapon, with which he shot at Horn and his son.
Kibbutz HaZorea said goodbye to "Musa": "A devoted family man whose childhood and life are intertwined like a second thread in the life of the community where he was born and lived his entire life. He was always one of the pillars of the kibbutz. For decades, he managed the field cultivation and crops sector on the kibbutz and made it one of the leaders in the country. An amateur gardener, a skilled craftsman and a master carpenter, whose home and the community around him are filled with woodwork and crafts that he diligently worked on, even in his advanced age. A conversationalist with an eternal smile on his lips.".
Moshe was married to Betty, father of Iris, Rotem, Ofir and Alon, and grandfather of ten grandchildren.
An IDF soldier was seriously injured in the attack and was taken to Rambam Hospital under anesthesia and on a ventilator.
Gideon Shalom, an eyewitness, told Kan News: "I was sitting with a young man at the station. At one point I left the station because I had no reception and then I saw the car. I thought it was an accident at first. I ran to him and he came out with a 30 cm knife. I ran over the railing, he stabbed the young man and I heard two shots. He shot in my direction and he shot into a car I told the driver to run away. Then I signaled to the police with my hands and screamed, 'There's a terrorist attack here.' What happened here is a nightmare.".
Commissioner Danny Levy said at the scene: "A collaboration between the blue police and the Border Guard to eliminate a terrorist who went on a killing spree. I spoke to the policemen and women, they saved many people. Unfortunately, the terrorist is an Arab-Israeli who went out this morning to kill Jews. I say to the Arabs of Israel: Go pray, honor the month of Ramadan and don't try to do what was done here. This is not an easy time, but we are committed.".
One of the Border Guard soldiers who neutralized the terrorist said at the scene: "We were on our way to training in Beit Shean and spotted a terrorist in the middle of the road with a weapon. I shouted to the guys to dismount as quickly as possible. There were seven fighters in two vehicles. We dismounted in a straight line until the terrorist was eliminated.".
Their commander added: "You did a professional, serious job here. I see your striving for contact, and this is exactly what we expect from our fighters during an incident. You neutralized a terrorist and prevented a much greater disaster. Congratulations on the activity. This is noteworthy.".
The police said: This morning, at approximately 9:40 AM, a report was received at the police hotline about a ramming and shooting attack at the bus stop near the Tishbi intersection.
The terrorist arrived at the scene in his vehicle, accelerated and hit a soldier standing at the bus stop in the area, heading east.
Immediately afterwards, the terrorist got out of his vehicle, stabbed the soldier he had run over, grabbed his weapon and began a killing spree, shooting at vehicles on the route.
As a result of the shooting, an 85-year-old man was critically injured while driving on the road and was pronounced dead at the scene. Another person in the vehicle managed to escape.
Border Guard soldiers who were traveling on the route recognized what was happening, attempted to make contact, and with a quick, determined, and precise response, neutralized the terrorist, stopped the killing spree, and saved many lives. The soldiers were joined by a member of the security forces who also fired shots during the handling of the incident.
