The Likud and the Otzma Yehudit party issued a joint statement stating that they had reached an agreement, according to which the Otzma Yehudit faction will return to the Israeli government today (Tuesday) - and the party's ministers will return to their positions in the government.

The move comes after Ben Gvir's fundamental demands were met by essentially returning to fighting in Gaza.

The appointment of the Otzma Yehudit ministers will be approved by the government today, and tomorrow, before the Arrangements Law, the swearing-in will take place in the Knesset plenum.

The faction's ministers will return to the positions they held before leaving the government: Ben Gvir will return to being the Minister of National Security, Yitzhak Waserlauf will be reappointed as Minister of the Negev and the Galilee, and Amichai Eliyahu will return to the Heritage Ministry.

Knesset members Zvika Fogel, Limor Son-Har Melech and Yitzhak Kreuzer will return to their positions in the various committees.

The agreement is expected to affect coalition stability and strengthen the right-wing bloc, especially on security and political issues where Otzma Yehudit demands a stronger hand.

Commentator Amit Segal wrote: "A puzzling departure that changed nothing ends with a return. And what will happen if next week there is a respite in exchange for a deal? Will they leave again?""

Ben Gvir welcomed the resumption of fighting on the X network and wrote: "As we said in recent months, when we withdrew - Israel must return to fighting in Gaza. This is the right, moral, ethical and most justified step, in order to destroy the terrorist organization Hamas and return our hostages. We must not accept the existence of the Hamas organization and it must be destroyed.".
