The Likud announced this evening (Monday) that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's proposal regarding the agreement with MK Gideon Sa'ar's State Right Party was approved by the party secretariat by a majority of 81 against five.

A statement from the office of the chairman of the Likud Secretariat, Minister Yisrael Katz, stated: "Likud Chairman Benjamin Netanyahu's proposal regarding the agreement with the state right passed the Likud Secretariat by a majority of 81 to 5.

""The Likud Secretariat today approved the sections relating to its areas of authority, including the cancellation of the decision prohibiting members of the state right from running for 5 years from the date of their return and shortening the qualification period for future running for the Knesset and Likud institutions.

""The remaining clauses in the agreement were transferred by the Likud Secretariat to the Likud Center, which will convene within 90 days to approve them.".

The two parties announced last Thursday an agreement to merge. According to the parties' announcement, a joint list of candidates will be submitted in the next elections.

""Within the framework of the agreement, to the extent that the Prime Minister is given the authority to reserve candidates on the Likud list for the 26th Knesset, Minister Gideon Sa'ar, Chairman of the State Right, will select the first reserved candidate within the reserved candidates for Prime Minister. It was also agreed that the position of the first reserved candidate will not be after 15th place. After the merger, members of the State Right faction will be part of the Likud faction," the parties' statement read.

The Foreign Minister himself is not interested in retaining the list, and he is expected to retain MK Ze'ev Elkin.
