United States President Donald Trump threatened this evening (Monday) that from now on any attack carried out by the Houthis in Yemen will be considered a missile carried out by Iranians - and Tehran will bear the consequences.
In a post he published on his social media, Trump wrote: "The hundreds of attacks carried out by the thuggish mafia Houthis in Yemen, who hate the Yemeni people, are all from Iran.".
He added: "Any further attack or 'retaliatory action' by the Houthis will be met with great force and there is no guarantee that this force will be stopped there. Iran pretends to be an 'innocent victim' of terrorists over whom it has lost control, but Iran has not lost control, it dictates every move, provides weapons, provides money and sophisticated military equipment, and even intelligence.".
Trump warned: "Every shot fired by the Houthis will from now on be considered a shot fired by the weapons of Iran and by its leadership - and they will bear responsibility" - and emphasized: "The consequences will be severe!".
Last Saturday, the US announced the launch of an operation against the Houthis in Yemen. The attacks hit air defense systems, missile arsenals, and drones, with the aim of opening shipping lanes in the Red Sea.
