Tragedy in Bnei Brak: 59-year-old man drowns during immersion in a mikveh

A 59-year-old man collapsed today (Monday) during a bath in a mikveh on Ramchal Street in the city of Bnei Brak - and drowned to death.

Rescue organization drivers who were called to the mikveh at 4:20 PM, following a report of drowning, performed advanced CPR on the unconscious man, along with MDA medics and paramedics. Unfortunately, at the end of the CPR, the paramedics were forced to declare him dead at the scene.

Rescuers Israel Hershtik and Eli Greiniman: "When we arrived at the mikveh, we found a 59-year-old man who had been pulled from the water unconscious, without a pulse and without breathing, after being found in the water like that.

""Together with rescue and MDA paramedics and paramedics, we performed advanced resuscitation operations on him, which included massages, providing respiratory assistance and administering an electric shock, but unfortunately, after medical examinations, the paramedics were forced to declare him dead at the scene.""

Menachem Salbotziki, a United Hatzalah medic who arrived first at the scene: "With the help of citizens who found the man unconscious in the mikveh pool, I pulled the man out of the water. I began performing CPR while connecting a defibrillator. At the end of the CPR efforts and after administering an electric shock, unfortunately he was pronounced dead.".

ZAKA Emergency Response Team Commander Yechiel Goldman, who is handling the scene: The ZAKA emergency response team rushed me a short time ago to Jerusalem Street, corner of Ramchal in the city of Bnei Brak, following a report of a man about 60 years old who was found lifeless inside a purification bath.

""With the help of additional volunteers, we are taking care of the honor of the deceased and assisting the emergency services forces operating at the scene.".

The circumstances of the incident are being investigated by the Israel Police.

The body will be transferred for further treatment and investigation to the National Institute of Forensic Medicine.
