Shalom Arbel, a former senior Shin Bet official, claimed today (Monday) that the legal advisor to the government, Gali Baharav Miyara, is in a conflict of interest - due to friendly ties between her husband and Ronen Bar and Nadav Argaman.

In an interview with 'Kol Berama' radio, Arbel referred to the attorney general's attempt to block the dismissal of the Shin Bet chief and said: "The legal advisor to the government is in a serious conflict of interest here - on the face of it. Both because of the actions and proceedings that are facing him and because of her closeness to Ronen Bar. She is a friend of Bar and Nadav Argaman. Her husband was in the same unit with them, they worked very closely on the team, and they are their good friends.".

He added: "There is a law in the country and it must be obeyed. If the Shin Bet publishes its investigation into the failures of the October seven and devotes an entire chapter to the political echelon and blames it - in my opinion, there is a problem here.".

He said, "The move is correct from the Prime Minister's perspective. The government has all the authority under the law to vote and dismiss the head of the Shin Bet. If there is a lack of confidence - or for any reason whatsoever - when the Prime Minister believes that he can no longer work with the head of the Shin Bet, he has all the authority to remove him from his position.".
