Border Guard Central Unit detectives and Nature and Parks Authority inspectors operated this morning (Monday) in a moshav in central Israel - following intelligence information about illegal possession of prohibited wild animals.

Among the wildlife located and captured by the inspectors and detectives: a crocodile, an anaconda snake, poisonous frogs and several other lizards of various types, all foreign, exotic species, and one local swamp turtle that was probably captured from the wild.

All of the animals were taken for further treatment by the Nature and Parks Authority. These are wild animals that are dangerous to humans and the local nature.

The Nature and Parks Authority and other enforcement bodies intend to file serious charges against the suspect and others involved.

The phenomenon of illegally kept wildlife has become widespread recently, with 12 monkeys and four lion cubs seized so far.

The suspects are keeping the animals and selling them. Police estimate that some of the animals were smuggled here from Egypt via special drones. At this time, no arrests have been made in most cases.
