
A senior reserve officer, with the rank of brigadier general, lost highly classified and sensitive documents in the parking lot of an office tower in Ramat Gan.
The documents fell on the officer, accidentally, after he got out of his car for a civil meeting held in the building.
According to a report on the Ynet website, a citizen passing by noticed the documents, collected them and handed them to the building's security guard, who reported them to the police and the IDF.
IDF sources say that the officer was never supposed to remove the sensitive paperwork from the base walls.
The IDF confirmed the case and stated that it is currently under investigation by the Information Security Department. Military sources emphasized that the incident is not being investigated by the MPC, but by information security sources, and that the officer is not suspended from his position at this stage.
The officer had previously been linked to another incident of alleged violation of an order, but was not suspended.
Military sources clarified: "After the investigation is concluded, appropriate steps will be taken.".
An IDF spokesman said in response: "The incident in question is being investigated by the IDF Information Security Department.".
