Journalist Gideon Levy, a radical leftist, said in an interview with the program "Journalist's Certificate" hosted by Roy Katz on Knesset Channel that the management of the Haaretz newspaper ordered him and reporter Josh Breiner to stop appearing on Channel 14.
""I wasn't comfortable with it, but I had to," he said.
Levy noted that he and Breiner were two Haaretz people who appeared on the channel, and that the order was received from the newspaper's management, although he does not remember whether it was a decision by publisher Amos Schocken or editor Aluf Ben.
Levy said that he participated in the show "The Patriots," where he said "I was treated very respectfully" - and expressed regret that he had to stop his appearances.
He emphasized that for him it was an opportunity to meet new audiences: "We don't know the audience of 'The Patriots.' After the setbacks in 'The Patriots,' I discovered other worlds and other people, with whom I had never had a conversation.".
Levy later referred to the channel's audience and said that these are people with a sense of exclusion, striving for recognition from established Israeli society.
