According to the investigations conducted so far in the security agencies - the IDF and the Shin Bet - there is currently more hidden than visible, but what is known is that the intelligence failure stretches back decades.
Yizhar David, who was the director of the Shomron Division in the Shin Bet, harshly criticized in an interview with Radio 103 the words of former Shin Bet chief Nadav Argaman, in an interview with Channel 12 - and claimed that he too had a part in the failure to swear in the October oath.
A former Shin Bet official said: "His bullying threat, while trampling all the red lines, is an act that must not be passed over in silence. I hope that the police will investigate, and that the public will denounce him. I would also be happy for him, that he will disappear from Israeli public life, and stop spreading his divisive poison.".

So, if there is truth behind Argaman's threats, where did the information come from?
David estimated that it is possible that the former head of the Shin Bet got his hands on the prime minister's private information, by virtue of the Shin Bet being the agency responsible for personal security: "I'm telling you that I know things about people I protected, and I never even thought of telling them to my wife. What do the current and future targets of security think that a former Shin Bet head who has lost his way could come and threaten to tell about things he was exposed to while his people were protecting him?" he wondered.
He added: "Every Shin Bet person knows that we are not allowed to reveal anything that we have been exposed to in our work without receiving permission.".
In addition, David referred to the investigations being conducted within the Shin Bet. "There have been several investigations conducted within the service that are not what was published in the public domain. The original investigation is very incisive and courageous.".
He also referred to Argaman's responsibility for the failures of the October coup, saying: "That night all the systems collapsed, what suddenly happened that all the systems collapsed? Some of the systems that collapsed that night are directly connected to Nadav Argaman. This is a huge mega-attack and many parallel lines lead to Nadav Argaman's period.
""The external investigation took the event and didn't touch on the night at all. It asked how the Shin Bet arrived at that night, and is faced with a challenge that it is supposed to face. Many lines lead to Argaman's tenure.".
He emphasized: "He played a huge part in not delivering the goods. The damage he caused to the human information system is dramatic. When he is exposed, there will be some shocks here.".
However, he qualified that there is no basis for the conspiracy theories being spread online: "All these conspiracy and betrayal theories, delete them. They are nonsense.".

In an interview with Channel 12, Argaman said, "There is great importance to the intimacy between the head of the Shin Bet and the prime minister, and I don't think it's right to harm that intimacy in order to ensure the proper relationship and working ties and the transparency that must exist between the head of the Shin Bet and the prime minister. And that's why I'm currently keeping everything that happened private between me and the prime minister in this place. It's quite clear that I have a lot of knowledge, I can use it, and I don't use it for the same reasons I mentioned.".
When asked when he would use it, he replied: "If I think that the State of Israel or if I come to the conclusion that the prime minister has decided that he is acting against the law, then if there is no choice, I will say everything I know and have withheld from myself until today in order to preserve the importance of the relationship between the head of the Shin Bet and the prime minister.".
