Continuing our extensive work for the benefit of the thousands of immigrants to the Meron Atara Kadisha: In preparation for the Rashbi celebration in Meron, work is underway to upgrade and complete the "Derech HaKohanim," which serves the community of priests and the hundreds of thousands expected to ascend to the holy site.
The road, which also serves as an escape and security route, is undergoing another upgrade that will ensure a safer and more orderly passage, to allow the celebration to take place happily and safely.
As part of the work carried out two years ago, in preparation for the celebration of the Rashbi 5883, the "Derech HaKohanim" was expanded three times its original size, the old bridges used by the priestly community were removed, and the road was paved in accordance with the requirements of Halacha using the "Kiffin on Kiffin" method. The upgrade allowed for a safer and more orderly arrival, and also served as an escape and emergency route.
Now, in preparation for the Rashbi celebration in Meron 2015, additional upgrades are being made that will ensure even safer passage: the construction of a decorative road cover, the paving of the road with stone, the layering of the concrete layers with asphalt combined with stone, the placement of standard lighting poles, the installation of safety railings, and the construction of separate exit stairs adapted for the general public.
The new road, intended for priests, will begin at the entrance to the settlement (Gate 10) and will lead directly to the 'Toldot Avraham Yitzhak' plaza above the Zion.
In parallel with the work on the 'Priests' Path', preparatory efforts continue throughout the mountain area, including improving infrastructure, removing safety obstacles, and preparing additional access routes, led by Minister Meir Porush, the Hillula Project Manager Yossi Deitch, and the professionals at the Ministry of Jerusalem and Jewish Tradition, headed by Director General Shimon Album and Deputy Director General Miron Chaim Rosenstein.
The project is being carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Religious Services.
There is great anticipation among the public for the upcoming celebration, which is expected to take place in accordance with the successful outline of the Rashbi celebration in Meron in 1983, when approximately 200,000 people participated, to the satisfaction of all participants.
Minister of Jerusalem and Jewish Tradition, Meir Porush, who is responsible for the Rashbi celebration in Meron: "In parallel with preparations for this year's celebration, the Ministry of Jerusalem and Jewish Tradition continues, with divine help, work on the permanent infrastructure in Meron in accordance with the recommendations of the State Investigation Committee to investigate the Mount Meron disaster. We are working, among other things, to ensure a safe and dignified route for the priests and the tens of thousands of immigrants to Meron, so that they can participate in the celebration with joy and safety.".
Hiloula Project Manager, Yossi Deitch: "The additional work will significantly upgrade the conditions of the transition and ensure an orderly and safe route. These days we are preparing to implement the outline set by Minister Rabbi Meir Porush for holding Hiloula in joy and safety. We are in a challenging year of Hiloula on Shabbat evening, and together with the public we will succeed. With God's help, we will and will succeed.".
