Yesterday (Tuesday), IDF forces identified a four-year-old Palestinian boy who approached an IDF position in the buffer zone inside the Gaza Strip.

After a quick examination and consultation with security officials, the forces ensured that the child was returned to Gaza, in coordination with the Coordination Unit for Government Activities in the Territories and the international community.

An IDF spokesman in Arabic announced that IDF forces noticed a child advancing towards an IDF position in the Gaza buffer zone. During the conversation with the soldiers, the child said that he was sent to the position by Hamas members.

The IDF condemned the incident and emphasized that this is shameful and dangerous behavior on the part of Hamas, which does not hesitate to use any means and continues to exploit innocent civilians.

Col. Avichai Adraee: "It is clear that Hamas terrorists do not hesitate to use all the tools and means to exploit civilians and children in an absurd manner in order to promote terrorist activity.".

This is not the first time that Hamas has used children and the civilian population as a means to advance its goals. In recent years, several cases have been documented in which children were sent to crossings, used as messengers to transport explosives, and even recruited for espionage operations.

The IDF said: "This is a serious violation of every moral and international norm, and the international community must wake up and act decisively against the use of children as a weapon of war.".
