The Israeli stand on the side of the Druze in Syria: Israel has sent fighter jets to Syria several times in recent days to protect the Druze in the country, Channel 12 reported this morning (Wednesday).
According to the report, the planes flew at low altitude in order to send a clear message to the members of the new regime in Syria that Israel would protect the Druze, and also to keep away President al-Julani's men, who were trying to approach the area where the Druze live.
Israel maintains close contact with Druze leaders in Syria, and has pledged to assist them as necessary and protect them from attempts to harm them.
In the past two weeks, fear has grown among members of the Druze community in Syria that the regime will carry out a massacre against them, as was carried out against the Alawites.
Close talks are taking place between Israel and the Druze in Syria.
Defense Minister Yisrael Katz declared that Israel will bring Druze workers into Israeli territory - and the pilot will begin as early as next week. Yesterday, he declared at the peak of Mount Hermon: "We will tighten ties with the residents of the region and soon, on the 16th of the month, Druze work will begin in the Golan Heights communities.".
The workers will initially be recruited for agricultural work in the Golan Heights. As part of the pilot, a mechanism will operate that sorts the workers, tests them - and recruits them in Israel. Initially, a few dozen are expected to enter, and the number is expected to increase later.
