Akiva Weiss leaves the corporation: appointed political and diplomatic correspondent at Makor Rishon'

Set out on a new path: Haredi journalist Akiva Weiss is leaving Kan News after eight years, and is moving to the Makor Rishon newspaper - where he will serve as a political and diplomatic correspondent.

Weiss, 32, born in Bnei Brak, began his journalistic career at Koy HaNeys, then served as a political correspondent for the website Behadrei Haredim.

In 2016, he began working for the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation - 'Kan 11' as an economic correspondent and published many articles about the Haredi middle class and the lower decile, including investigations into the Lottery and Haredi economic policy.

In 2018, he began serving as the corporation's religion correspondent.

Weiss wrote this morning on his personal Twitter account: "Happy to update that after more than eight years at Kaan News, I am joining Makor Rishon as a political and diplomatic correspondent.

""I want to thank Baruch Shai, Eldad Koblenz, Lior Landenberg, Golan Yochpaz, Shaul Amsterdamsky, who brought me to the corporation, and all the good friends I have made along the way.

Hodya Karish-Hazoni, who covered politics for seven years at Mosul Rishon, will serve as the newspaper's political commentator, in addition to magazine writing and editorial duties.
