The IDF clarified that the background is not nationalistic.

Ramla police officers began an operational search upon receiving the report of the attack. As part of the search, the forces monitored the movement of the stolen vehicle, which fled the scene after breaching the checkpoint.

After a police chase, the suspect was arrested near the Al-Kharach intersection in Ramla.

Medical personnel treated the injured person and evacuated him to the hospital for medical treatment.

The IDF said: "An IDF soldier was moderately injured earlier this morning, as a result of a vehicle hitting the Tzirifin base gate checkpoint. The soldier was evacuated for medical treatment and his family has been notified. There is no concern of a terrorist incident. The incident is being investigated.".

The suspect was taken to the police station for questioning, and later today he will be brought to court for a hearing on a request to extend his detention.
