In 2019, Hefetz sued Bardugo and then-Justice Minister Amir Ohana, after the two revealed details from his investigation that were prohibited from publication.
Hefetz claimed about half a million shekels from each of them.
""The lawsuit concerns two publications," the decision states. "The publication of part of a document from an investigation of a certain woman who had a relationship with the plaintiff while he was married, who was summoned for questioning even though she had no connection to the matters being investigated, and she was even met as if by chance with the plaintiff as part of the interrogation exercise that was conducted on him, in order to put pressure on him. The plaintiff claims that the publication constitutes defamation and an invasion of his privacy, and that the publication was made in violation of a gag order.""
However, the court dismissed the claim regarding the second publication that Hefetz sued for, which concerned "the defendant's broadcast on radio programs on November 8, 2019, in which, according to the plaintiff, the defendant was portrayed as if he were a puppet controlled by the police.".
