
Data from Sheba - Automated Banking Services, the developer and manager of national credit card payment systems and ATM withdrawals, indicate that in February 2025, the upward trend in credit card spending in the Israeli economy continued.
February's spending data stood at 41.011 billion shekels.
The amount of spending in February 2025 represents an increase of NIS 2.422 billion and 6.31% compared to February 2024, when total spending on credit cards was NIS 38.589 billion.
There were 29 days in February last year, while there are 28 days this year, so in terms of average daily spending, the increase in spending is NIS 134 million and 10.1% - an average daily spending of NIS 1.465 billion this year compared to NIS 1.331 billion in 2024.
The average daily spending amount in February recorded a further decrease of 21.3% and 30 million shekels compared to January 2025, when it stood at 1.495 billion shekels.
In February 2025, there was a 10.21% jump in spending on online transactions compared to February 2024.
Total spending on online transactions reached a total of NIS 24.282 billion last month, an increase of NIS 2.251 billion compared to the amount of NIS 22.031 billion recorded in February 2024.
The average daily spending in online transactions was NIS 867.225 million, an increase of NIS 107.544 million and 14.21% compared to the average daily amount in February 2024, which was NIS 759.681 million.
The average daily online spending in February this year is 3.11% lower and 27.581 million shekels lower than the daily average in January 2025, which was 894.806 million shekels.
The volume of purchases in physical transactions increased by only 11% compared to February 2024.
In February 2025, an amount of NIS 16.728 billion was recorded in expenses for physical transactions carried out in the businesses themselves. This is an increase of NIS 1.021 trillion compared to the amount of NIS 16.559 billion recorded in February 2024.
The average daily spending in physical transactions in February 2025 was NIS 597.416 million, and compared to February 2024, it increased by NIS 4.613 million and NIS 26.41 million.
The average figure for spending on physical transactions in February is 0.51% lower than in January 2025, when the average figure was 600.443 million shekels.
