The heart of the heartDr. Mordechai Nissan is an orientalist from the Hebrew University. In a column he published, he wrote the following:
""The Haredim are waging a struggle aimed at taking over the entire society and leaving their mark on all of life in Israel.
The ultra-Orthodox minority that laments as victims of discrimination has already aroused disgust and rejection.
"Strong steps must be taken against the Haredi: make it difficult for the Haredi way of life; flood the Haredi sector with symbols of Zionism, the IDF, and Israeliness; and encourage Jews abroad who are not from the Haredi sector to immigrate to Israel.".
Surprised.
I belong to the ultra-Orthodox community and I didn't even know I was like that: trying to take over Israeliness, whining, and most of all provoking disgust and rejection.
I wasn't ashamed, I called the doctor, and asked him if he thought all Haredim were like that. The brave thinker answered me in detail and clearly:
I'm not interested in being interviewed by you.
This time, I was no longer surprised by his cowardice.
