The injured hand of Emily Damari, the abductee who was released yesterday from Hamas captivity along with Doron Steinbracher and Romy Gonen, inspired people in Israel and around the world.

Damari was hit in the hand by gunfire from Hamas terrorists on October 7 and lost two of her fingers. Yesterday, during a video call she had with her friends from the IDF absorption complex in Bar'aim, she raised her hand and showed them her bandaged palm.

This gesture turned the gesture into a symbol of her victory. She also added the emoji "????????" to the end of her post this morning.

Another surfer wrote: ""There are people that you are drawn to the way you look at them and Emily has the natural aura - and the next first goal we score, I hope they celebrate like this ???????? ????????""

According to a report in Kan News, an Israeli man even tattooed the image of a bandaged hand on his leg. In a photo he posted on Instagram, he wrote: "You moved me to the level of a tattoo. Welcome back.".

Alex Friedman, founder and chairman of the organization 'A Disabled Person Is Not Half a Person', because Emily's hand position is similar to the sign for the word "love" in sign language.

""The sign" "????????? symbolizes love in sign language, and when Emily Damari returned to us from captivity, she brought with her a tremendous message of strength and hope. Emily lost both of her fingers during captivity, but out of her limitations and pain, she chooses to show us this sign, which was created against her will, and to turn it into a symbol of love, joy, and life. Because even when it seems like there is no choice – we always have the option to choose love. Emily, you are an inspiration to us all.".

Another gesture is the emoji created by artist and designer Aviad Amargi, which was distributed as a sticker on WhatsApp.
