Itzik Buntzel, the father of Sergeant Amit Ya'd who fell in battle in Gaza, and one of the leaders of the 'Gavura Forum', did an unusual thing today (Monday) during a discussion in the Knesset Constitution Committee when he interrupted the discussion and asked to say Kaddish - during the time dedicated to the speeches delivered by the bereaved families and the families of the kidnapped.
Itzik Bunzel recited the Kaddish as part of his speech, during which he accused the Knesset members of forgetting about the fallen. Bunzel came to the Knesset along with other bereaved families from the 'Heroism Forum', in order to voice the forum's demands and the voices of the families of the fallen.
""A year has passed since Bnei Amit fell, and what seems to be happening is that the people of Israel have forgotten the fallen," said Buntzel.
He added, "You forgot the fallen, you forgot the families. I know that you continue to quarrel with each other, because the dispute fails to subside, to change direction. Today, news about fallen soldiers in the media channels is the third or fourth news item that disappears from the screens within three or four hours. I follow this.".
According to Buntzel, "If I were to go through here one by one and ask those present in the room how many people have fallen since the beginning of the war, in my humble opinion, no one here would know the exact number. It means that we as an Israeli society have gone bankrupt and gotten used to it. Another fall, another bereaved family.".
""I want to remind the people of Israel of other things, and that is why I am saying 'Kaddish' here now. Don't forget how many have fallen, don't forget how many need to be brought to the grave of Israel and they are in Gaza. Start behaving differently, honor us, the bereaved families. He makes peace in His high places, He will make peace with us and with the entire people of Israel, and say Amen," said Buntzel at the end of his speech.
During his speech, he spoke about his meeting with Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and attacked him: "He called us the Maccabees of our time. Today I am unable to schedule a meeting with him to discuss the issue of bereaved families.".
