The Shin Bet and the Israel Police have revealed a new serious security incident: Alexander Granovsky, 29, from Petah Tikva, was arrested on suspicion of carrying out missions on behalf of foreign elements.
This is the 13th espionage case that the security establishment has uncovered in recent months.
The investigation, conducted in collaboration with the police's Lahav 433 unit, revealed that starting in November, he had been in contact with terrorist elements outside Israel and carried out a large number of different security missions for them, realizing that they could harm the security of the state.

The actions carried out by the suspect include: setting eight vehicles on fire across Israel, while spraying the inscriptions of "Children of Ruhollah" (the former Supreme Leader of Iran), photographing an infrastructure facility in the center of the country and sending the photograph to its operators, photographing an entrance to MK Benny Gantz's residential neighborhood and passing it on to foreign entities, passing on information about an Israeli citizen for the purpose of examining his recruitment by those entities, and purchasing military uniforms for the purpose of preparing a video in which he burns the uniform.
In addition, it turned out that his operators had discussed with him the possibility of obtaining weapons, including a rifle and grenades, and even asked him to perform additional tasks, such as collecting information on the residential addresses of ministers and setting fire to a police car and a bus.
However, Granovsky refused to carry out some of the tasks.
Today, a prosecutor's statement was filed against Granovsky, and in the coming days, a serious indictment will be filed against him in the Central District Court.
