A 74-year-old Jerusalem resident encountered an embarrassing incident: The Jerusalem Municipality led to the seizure of his bank account - when they demanded that he pay an education services fee for two children who were not born. This was reported today (Tuesday) on the program "The Color of Money" on Channel B. For three years, the man received payment demands for two children named Sam and Yafet, neither of which exist. Despite his repeated requests to the municipality - where he was told in response that the issue had been addressed - his account was seized last month. The Jerusalem Municipality responded with an apology, canceling the debt on 11/25/24 and promising to prevent similar mistakes in the future. The Jerusalem Municipality's response: "Due to an error, a payment demand was sent to the applicant and after an investigation, the debt was canceled. According to what appears in the municipality's systems, the seizure was canceled on 11/25/24. We apologize for the heartache caused and are working to prevent such mistakes in the future.".
