The court extended the detention of a senior police officer with the rank of deputy superintendent, suspected of moral turpitude offenses, on Monday evening. Another officer with the rank of superintendent was released after being questioned for hours. Jerusalem wants mountain air: These are the vehicles that are banned from entering the city The two police officers were arrested today by the Police Investigations Department, as part of a case that includes, according to the Police Investigations Department, suspicion of breach of trust and abuse of police power, as well as bribery offenses. The Police Investigations Department stated that the investigation is still ongoing and that a gag order has been issued on all other details of the investigation file. In another case that was revealed today, a senior officer in the Prison Service, who is close to National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, was interrogated. He was detained by the Police Investigations Department on suspicion of obstructing investigation procedures and breach of trust. According to 'Kan Hadesot', the Police Investigations Department is examining whether the senior officer used a female police officer without authority to remove publications against the Prison Service and against Minister Ben-Gvir. The female officer, who is allegedly involved in the case, has been suspended from her position for several months. After 12 hours of questioning by the Police Investigations Department, the IPS officer was released and was prohibited from contacting those involved in the case. Upon his exit, he told the Ynet website: "I'm leaving from the front, not the side exit. When it's allowed to talk about it - I'll be the first to stand up and answer every question." MK Moshe Saada, who was previously deputy head of the Police Investigations Department, wrote on Twitter: "The method of intercepting people through criminal investigations and indictments that have no evidentiary basis is not a new method, unfortunately. For years, the legal system has managed to destroy lives and thwart public careers of people it doesn't like, but in recent years this method has completely gotten out of control. All while violating the basic rights of those being investigated. "This is not a matter of political position, support or opposition to the government or the attorney general. The system in charge of law and justice has deviated from the path and is using its predatory power to harm citizens in the most serious way possible. "If we don't stop this spiral, we will fall into chaos and anarchy, which every citizen in the country should be concerned about. Today these are senior police and IPS officers, and tomorrow these will be civilians that someone decided to intercept. This must be put to an end. It's time to fix the system and have someone guard the guards.".   Tamir Morag, Channel 14's political correspondent, wrote: "The situation in which armed civilians (even if on duty) unexpectedly block the vehicle of a senior IPS officer and attack him with drawn weapons is reminiscent of a scene from the series Narcos - not an event in a state of law. "Beyond the appalling lack of professionalism that almost caused the disaster (the officer's security guards thought for a moment that it was an assassination attempt and drew their weapons on the investigators), this is a mafia-style attempt to spread terror. "Without going into the details of the affair - how exactly is an arrest in this manner necessary, and what message does it send? Would the senior officer have escaped if they had arrested him without this dangerous rampage? I don't know if the prosecutor's office is a criminal organization, but it is definitely starting to use the methods of drug cartels in Mexico.".
