Jared Kushner, the Jewish son-in-law of US President-elect Donald Trump, promised - in a tweet he posted on his Twitter account - that following the murder of Chabad emissary Rabbi Zvi Kogan, he and his wife Ivanka will donate $1 million to the Chabad House in Dubai. "Ivanka and I are saddened by Rabbi Kogan's senseless murder, aimed at halting the historic bridges he built between Jews and Muslims in the United Arab Emirates," Kushner wrote. "The success of his work, in conjunction with the bold and positive vision of the Emirati government, has been a shining light in the world and a powerful counter to the history of division. "Before World War II, Jews and Muslims lived together throughout the Middle East in harmony for centuries, celebrating their shared values, and the UAE is leading us back to that era. "In the UAE, people of all faiths and backgrounds thrive together in an environment of mutual understanding and respect. Ivanka and I will donate $1 million to the Chabad House in the UAE and redouble our efforts to work with the Jewish community and the country's leadership to build a resilient and vibrant Jewish community in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. We invite others to join us in this effort." He added: "The constant scapegoating of Israel and the Jewish people serves no one except incompetent leaders who use hatred to deflect their own shortcomings. It is time for the world to channel its collective energy into elevating our shared goals and aspirations. To all who would exacerbate these historic disparities, know that your efforts only strengthen the Jewish community’s resolve to contribute to societies that respect and welcome us. "History has shown that those who embrace the Jewish people benefit, and those who persecute the Jewish people ultimately find themselves in spectacular defeat." Kushner called out: "Let us come together from all faiths to pick up where Rabbi Kogan left off and take his work, and the work of those building the UAE into a thriving destination of tolerance, bridge-building, and mutual benefit, to new heights." Kushner’s post garnered 200,000 views in no time. Shortly after, his brother Yehoshua also announced that he Joins and also donates a million dollars to Chabad in the United Arab Emirates: "I am inspired by your leadership and Ivanka's. Carly and I will match your donation at the million dollar threshold. May we live in a time of peace, unity and acceptance. May the memory of Rabbi Kogan be blessed. But it doesn't end there: Harley Finkelstein, a Canadian Jew, who serves as CEO of Shopify, an online commerce platform valued at tens of billions of dollars, is also crazy about donating a million - and wrote to Joshua Kushner: ""We are inspired by you too, Josh.  Thank you.".
