The police and the Shin Bet requested today (Sunday) to extend the arrest of Eli Feldstein, the military affairs spokesman in the Prime Minister's Office, the main suspect in involvement in the 'document leak affair.'.

The court accepted the request and extended his detention until Wednesday.

According to a report by Amit Segal on Channel 12, Feldstein did not receive an offer to serve as a state witness in the case, as of a few days ago.

It was also reported that, according to his associates, he claimed during his interrogation that he acted on his own initiative and that no one sent him to steal the classified document. His main claim is that the officers from the Military Intelligence Service approached him twice with a request to pass the document to Netanyahu, until he agreed to take the document.

After three detention extensions, Judge Dorit Saban Noy ordered the Attorney General's Office and the Israel Police to present to the court by Wednesday a prosecutor's statement or evidence indicating that there is reason to keep the suspect in custody.

If there are no significant developments in Feldstein's case, he is expected to be released from custody on Wednesday.

According to the report on Channel 12, there is a disagreement between the prosecutor's office and the police about the affair: the police claim that there is a huge gap between how the public perceives the affair as dramatic and the little evidence that actually exists, and that the investigation should be abandoned.

On the other hand, the prosecutor's office believes there is enough evidence to continue the investigation and lead to Feldstein's conviction.

Although all the suspects' lawyers are urging the Magistrate's Court to lift the gag order, the Attorney General's Office and the Shin Bet are firmly opposed.

Tomorrow, the President of the Rishon LeZion Magistrate's Court is expected to deliver his decision on the matter.
