CIA Director William Burns said tonight: "The Israeli leadership is considering very carefully how it will respond to the Iranian attack.".
He added that he believes the Israeli leadership is "taking into account" the concerns expressed by President Biden and senior American officials. "We are all well aware of the possible consequences of various forms of attacks and the implications for the global energy market and also the global economy.".
Earlier, Sky News Arabic reported that the United States had warned Israel against attacking Iranian nuclear facilities. Sources told the channel that Washington had warned that Iran would withdraw from the Non-Proliferation Treaty if its nuclear facilities were attacked.
A senior Pentagon official claimed that there is information that Israel's response to the latest Iranian missile attack is imminent and that it will be "greater than all expectations." The source added that the US Department of Defense has provided an intelligence assessment to senior Israeli military officials regarding an attack on Iranian nuclear facilities.
The source emphasized that Israel has a partial capability to bomb Iranian nuclear facilities and needs American assistance to complete the mission.
The Pentagon source noted that the bases where the Iranian nuclear facilities are located are geographically complex, requiring air strikes over days and requiring air capabilities that exist only in the United States.
